Aoxomoxoa, both front and back.

Hooteroll? has one of my favorite covers

Woodstock, not for the layout overall (pretty much of a mess with all the writing) but cuz that's just such an iconic, evocative photo.

Aoxomoxoa is the only album cover I ever wore(printed on at-shirt of)

I always liked:
Sgt Peppers
Axis: Bold As Love
Wow(Moby Grape)

Vanilla Fudge

Renaissance(Vanilla Fudge)

And there were a lot of interesting covers that came out of "The Bosstown Sound"(Ultimate Spinach, Feer Tree, Pluph et.al.)

Two Zappa/Mothers of Invention come to mind. "We're Only In It For the Money" (Cal Schenkel's brilliant parody of Sgt. Pepper that had to be released with the gatefold cover reversed because Verve feared a lawsuit) and "Weasels Ripped My Flesh" by Neon Park, who also did great covers for Little Feat, among others.

Janis/Big Brother: CHEAP THRILLS (Big R. Crumb fan.)

Beatles: YELLOW SUBMARINE

Joni Mitchell: BLUE

Grateful Dead: EUROPE '72. (Gotta love the Ice Cream Kid.)

Honorable mention: Grateful Dead: FAREWELL TO WINTERLAND. (Not an official release but if anyone remembers the bootleg LP--it featured a shot of Jerry on the cover, smiling and holding up a big fat glass of red wine to the camera. I just loved that shot.)

Love the mid '60s San Fran artist that did many of the GD's albums and tour posters (Griffin, Mouse, Kelley, Wilson, Moscoso). I have several of their posters hanging in my house. There is a really excellent book called The Art of Rock that you should take a look at.

Aside from that:
The Beatles' Let It Be and White Album
Stones' Sticky Fingers and Emotional Rescue
Marley's Catch A Fire
Clash's London Calling

Edit: Please Google the names above - really cool stuff.
Dylan's Highway 61
Talking Heads' Fear of Music
REM's Reckoning
Zeppelin 4

Seriously, I think that my favorite album cover of all time is probably Tommy, but there are so may. I love Blues for Allah, London Calling, Roxy's Avalon, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Even in the Quietest Moments, My Aim is True... I could go on...

Oh HELL yes :)
I would even add some Crumb for good measure.

American Reality ~ GD
Anthem of the Sun ~ GD (no in the dark references plz)

In Through the Out Door ~ LZ
LZ - #3

and ALL Storm Thorgerson (PF)!!!

and for some reason Revlover really speaks to me. I dunno
why...
and George Harrison's 'Wonderwall'

cotton-woolyheaded-child-like-cartoon-memory-type art, I guess

and XTCs 'Oranges & Lemons': I think its the
Peter Max qualities about it.

and for the London Calling(s): I sure you know~
http://www.amiright.com/album-covers/elvis-presley-parodies/

not sure what to think of other than 'its been done before'.
I like the Pronghorn and the Cat Jug one.

Oh, and the 2,870 other great ones that arent coming to mind right now.

I've seen the London Calling/Elvis Presley reference, but had no idea how deeply those referrals went. That's amazing.

I love Storm Thorguson, as well as Gerald Scarfe. Just saw Roger Waters do The Wall last week. Really a fantastic show. Took my 16 year old daughter with me. She loved it. Was all set for a Northerly Island Further show, but found out that work was taking me out of town, so that's not going to happen.

Not in NorCal right now, back home in Chi town. Will be doing the travel thing again very soon. Should be in Santa Clara late July.

Sounds good. Except for the Furthur thing... Taking a 16 year old to 'one of the most depressing concerts of all time' (as my brother says), is quite an interesting move. She must be well adjusted :) I saw that RW was back in America for another leg.
The Chitown show went up (AUD/FLAC) last week I think.
Theres an absolutely INCREADIBLE DVD of last years Chi town
show.
Dude has been around the world touring the same show
for a year plus now?
I caught RW TWO Octobers ago when he was around.
He skipped us this time :(. Dont have the $ anyway. $400 for 4 seats 20 rows from the back of the arena last time. Uhg. But I didnt mind. As you saw, the scope of the show is such that I dont think I would have wanted to be real close. Its a once in a lifetime show though huh? Glad you
and your daughter got the chance.
Always good seeing around man. peace

She's become a real music fan. Loves all the Floyd stuff, and this is, as you say a once-in-a-lifetime. She's decided that the "Old Man" actually has decent taste in music, and has been digging into my very deep collection for quite some time.

The FLAC recording is FOB, and captures everything. I got it the next day for her. Very good recording. The performance has only gotten tighter, and the production has only gotten more mature since the last time it toured. But, damn, it is pricey.

Bummed about the Further show.

Other than that, all's well. And how's it with you?

Oh, Believe me, I've got the DVD already! Thanks so much for the kind offer, though.

You know me, if there's something that I want that's of value, and downloadable, I've got it.

Remember when Arbuthnot came out with those Jerry collections? Still have all those.

Have that Iomega IX4, 5.5Tb of usable space in Raid6. Lotsa space to play with.

Collecting is a disease. I have way more music than I'll ever watch or be able to listen to. What fun!

Have you ever been to FloydPodcast.com? You should check that out. He's got some amazing shows, and the quality is fantastic.

Rationalize much?

floyd cast~ have every one DLed, and a seperate ipod for
just them. Excellent shows. I sent Doc 50 bucks that last
money drive. Least I can do. Im sure you know hes tight

This is just what I have on my skydrive... A small taste,if you will

I was hoping to meet the Doc at Wrigley, but he didn't make it to Chicago. I've never had the pleasure IRL. He's a great guy, very talented. I hope that when they turn on the Sirius/XM Dead channel, that they give him a job, cause he's kind of hurting for cash. He does the podcast for love, not money.

The IX4 is because I used to work for EMC. IT is my thing. Storage and Virtualization is my game.

not following you. Nevertheless, Doc deserves more, I
agree.

And I dont do that Facebook, Twitter, linkdin stuff. I have
a hard enough time keeping up as it is if you cant tell :)
But you have given me some inspiration. If any of those,
I would try Linkdin. I cant stand all the facebook crap
honestly. So Im gonna store your info and see later.

You still have your yaaaahheeeuww acount for now?

You can take your info down from your post if needed.
and THANK YOU

oh, and does the skydrive have trackers? Do you know who

I love twitter, but don't do Facebook. The yeehaw acct still works.

As to the Floyd channel, I think sometime in July, the channel goes live, and it'll be modeled on the dead or Springsteen channel. There was a preview held over memorial day, but the playlists were very limited. Too much Wall, and goddamned Division Bell. I love the hard to find, and rarities.

I also hope that the bit rates are greater than the dead channel.
